Piedmont Wildlife Rehab, Inc.: An example to follow.

We wanted to take a moment to pay homage to a rehab group that has been around for over 22 years, located right here in Guilford County. Led by a team of experienced and knowledgeable rehabilitators, this group is responsible for an immense number of wildlife rescued, rehabilitated and returned to the wild in North Carolina.

On their 20th anniversary Piedmont Wildlife Rehab, Inc published a celebratory calendar (shown below) showcasing well over 5,400 animals rescued, as well as some of their volunteers.

Recent challenges have obligated this group to take a step back from their high-volume rehabilitation. They currently rehabilitate on a smaller scale and are focused on supporting wildlife through education, other rehab groups and independent rehabbers. Their efforts make a huge impact on the number of animals that are returned to the wild. They have trained countless apprentices and are still mentoring. They are also active in coordinating transport for all types of animals at all hours of the day (and night). Their team tirelessly demonstrate the dedication and compassion rehabilitators should all have.

Squirrel Friends wanted to dedicate this page to the work they have done, for the impact they make, and for the legacy they have created. We are proud to have Piedmont Wildlife Rehab, Inc in our community and are eager to continue learning from their experience and knowledge.
